Red Flag Parking

To increase public safety, the Los Angeles Fire Department and Department of Transportation have created a program to remove illegally parked vehicles in posted locations within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones.

The goal of the Red Flag Parking Program is to educate the public on the potential hazards associated with a fast-moving brush fire and the importance of keeping roadways clear for emergency vehicles.

Red Flag Parking Restrictions When Red Flag Parking restrictions are in effect, vehicles parked in designated areas may be subject to removal. Motorists should carefully observe all posted signs and parking restrictions.

Why Red Flag Parking Matters

During a wildfire, fire engines, rescue units, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles need unobstructed access to affected neighborhoods. Illegally parked vehicles can significantly delay emergency response and make evacuation routes more difficult to access.

Keep Roadways Clear

Do not park in posted Red Flag Parking areas or locations that may restrict emergency access.

Watch for Signs

Pay attention to temporary and permanent parking signs indicating restrictions during elevated fire danger.

Vehicle Removal
